Young sports enthusiasts will enjoy this simple biography of Andrew Luck, a part of the series "Football's Greatest Stars." It is filled with bright photography and short entries about Luck's life and football career. I recommend this to both school & public libraries.

Part of the Olympic Stars series from ABDO books that showcases the stars that shone the brightest in the most recent Olympic Games whether on the track, in the pool or in the gym.

In this entry, Matt Scheff provides a brief look at the life of Simone Manual, providing information about her early childhood and the events that led to her historic performance in the 2016 Summer Olympics, as she became the first African-American woman to win gold in an Olympic swimming event. Given the significance of her accomplishment and the decided lack of biographies about her – this is the only one – libraries will forgive the brevity of information and the photo-heavy text, in order to have something on their shelves. This would be suitable for biography reports, casual interest and more importantly, to provide diversity in the biography shelves. Recommended: An important addition to the sports biography shelves and where the Olympics are in demand.… (more)

Football Greatest Stars JJ Watt Dominic Polidor By Matt Scheff

JJ (Justin James) Watt was born in March 22,1989 in Waukesha,Wisconsin.JJ’s original favorite sport was hockey. He started playing hockey at 4 years old. At the age of 13 JJ gave up hockey because it was becoming too expensive. JJ turned to other sports in high school. Here are the ones he starred in, track and field, basketball, and baseball. But his real passion was at football. In football JJ was a star at both sides of the field.JJ played tight end on offense and on defense he played defensive end.JJ was named MVP (most valuable player) of his high school football team. But JJ was still not a highly rated college prospect. He did not get offers from big time football schools. But finally JJ decided to get a scholarship to Central Michigan. At Central Michigan,JJ most often played tight end.In 2007 Watt caught only eight passes all season. The coaches at Central Michigan suggested that he switch to the offensive line. JJ did not want to make that switch. So the next year he left Central Michigan and enrolled to a small community college in Michigan and got a job as a pizza man. One day JJ was delivering pizza, a boy recognized him and said why are you not playing football. For a while that sunk in JJ’s head until he transferred to the University of Wisconsin and tried out for the football team. The coaches let JJ become a Badger but as a walk-on. JJ stopped playing tight end and focus on defensive end.In 2008 he helped the badgers scout team but did not play a game. But JJ chance finally came next year. And JJ made the most of it.In 2009 JJ recorded 44 tackles and 4.5 sacks. In 2010 JJ was considered the best defensive player in 2010. JJ and his badgers’ went 11-1 in the regular season. The badgers were Big Ten co-champions Many NFL (National Football League) scout were impressed with JJ performance in college. With the 11th pick in the 2011 NFL draft the Houston Texans select JJ Watt out of the University of Wisconsin. During JJ’s first season he had 5.5 sacks and helped Houston to the playoffs for the first time. After a solid 2013 season JJ received a $100-million contract for six year with the Texans. In 2014 JJ he matched his career high with 20.5 sacks. JJ also was his 2 defensive player of the year.In the timeline of 4 years JJ came from delivering pizza to named a pro bowler.

I liked this book a lot because I play defense in football and I can relate to JJ a lot. This book is good for a great inspiring story and a cool one. JJ is one of my favorite defensive player if not my favorite. But I do also like Von Miller,Kam chancellor.Richard Sherman, and a lot more. This book is not just for defensive players like me but also for offensive players, because JJ plays tight end which is offense. So overall this is a super great book for football and non football players. Now I am going to read another library thing book.

Tom
Brady

Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977 in San Mateo, California. As Tom Brady grew up he fell in love with football and the San Francisco 49ers. In high school, Tom Brady put up big numbers. However, his high school was not a successful team.Few colleges showed interest in Brady. So Brady put together a video of his high school highlights then sent it to big time colleges. Finally, the Michigan Wolverines accepted Brady. Brady did not get to play much at first. He was a backup back in 1997 when Michigan won its national title. In 1998, Brady saw more playing time. By the end of the season Brady was taken as the main passer. Many NFL scouts were not impress with Brady but they did like his throwing arm. Brady watched the 2000 Nfl Draft waiting to be picked. The New England Patriots chose Brady in the 6th round. Brady was the 199th player chosen. The patriots all ready had a star quarterback so fans did not expect Brady to start. Brady barley play his rookie season. However Brady won his first game as a starter the next year. This was Brady’s Chance to be a star. After that game, Brady lead his team to countless victories. Brady tied the most NFL Championship wins with Joe Montana. That record as well as many others make Tom Brady one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history.

This book was interesting because I love the Patriots and football. Before I read this book my favorite quarterback was Cam Newton. After reading this book I began to like Tom Brady because I did not know Tom Brady was an underdog. I always thought he was always the most popular player on his teams. I hope to learn more about Tom Brady and I hope this author can make more books about football.
