Whether you're newly arrived or have lived in New York for several years, let veteran New York actors Joseph Kolinski and Julia Motyka (featured in the new book Now You Tell Me! 12 Actors Give the Best Advice They Never Got) welcome you to the tribe.
Joseph Kolinski, fresh on the heels of a fabulous year in the Broadway company of FOLLIES is an original cast member of TITANIC, LES MISERABLES, SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, THE HUMAN COMEDY, and DANCE A LITTLE CLOSER. Soap watchers may remember him as the evil Prince Roland of Mendora on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, and the composer chose him for the central role of Celebrant in Leonard Bernstein's MASS.
Julia Motyka is an actress, producer, and teacher with a national reputation and a decade of professional experience. As an actress, she has appeared Off-Broadway and in some of the nation's leading regional theatres and won performance awards in Los Angles, Denver, and San Francisco. Deeply committed to the development of new works, she has workshopped and premiered pieces by Theresa Rebeck, Lee Blessing, Lenelle Moïse, Jessica Litwak, Mario Fratti, and Hall Powell. She's currently an associate artist of The Pacific Resident Theatre and a member of The Actor's Center, NYC.
The actors will share humorous anecdotes from their own early years in the city to serve as a launching point for frank discussions of how to pick head shot photographers, how best to approach agents, what kind of money jobs are best, how to cope with the "I'll Never Work Again" blues, and what to do at the 7 month mark (or the 7 year mark) when you're ready to high-tail it home. Joined by primary co-author Sheridan Scott, Joe and Julia will be available for Q&A with audience members and signing copies of the book. Enjoy an evening of insightful discussion, wine and cheese, mingle with other actors and join the conversation!
