David Selznick (he added the middle initial O. for professional life) was a highly successful film producer, first at RKO and then at MGM and Paramount Pictures. In 1935 he created his own studio, Selznick International Pictures. He made many classic films in his career, the most famous of which is probably Gone With the Wind (1939), which won him an Academy Award.
