Warwick's and Design Within Reach are honored to co-host an evening with legendary photographer Julius Shulman, who will be on hand to sign his new three-volume box set, Modernism Rediscovered, at the Design Within Reach studio in downtown San Diego on Thursday, August 7 from 6 to 8:00pm.Please note: This event is being held at the Design Within Reach studio at 393 7th Avenue in downtown San Diego. The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP to J.D. from DWR at jhancock@dwr.com is requested for planning purposes only. The event will include wine and hors d'ouevres, and books will be available for purchase. A resident of Los Angeles since 1920, Julius Shulman has been documenting modernist architecture in Southern California and across the globe for nearly eight decades. His images of Pierre Koenig's Case Study House No. 22 (1960) in Los Angeles and Richard J. Neutra's Kaufmann House (1947) in Palm Springs are among the most recognizable and iconic architectural photographs of the 20th century. Shulman's numerous awards include the Architectural Photography Medal from the American Institute of Architects (1969), a lifetime achievement award from the International Center of Photography in New York (1998), and honorary doctorates from various academic institutions.
