Shanna Simpson

Affecting story of a boy with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), who is so afraid of dirt he spends all day washing and cleaning up. His mother takes him to a psychiatrist who provides help for him to combat the problem. The first part of the book, outlining his problems and the meeting with the doctor, is fascinating. The last half, as he fights to recover, receives short shrift. The book would have been improved by taking more time and providing more detail about the steps in Payton's recovery. Nevertheless, this is quite engrossing. The author based it on her own experiences growing up.… (more)
