Spend “An Intimate Afternoon with Skyy” when the urban fiction writer returns to Outwrite January 14. Skyy Reads From and Sign Copies of Her Most Recent Novel “Crossroads.” Outwrite welcomes the return of bestselling author SKYY for “AN INTIMATE AFTERNOON with SKYY,” on SATURDAY, JANUARY 14 at 4:00 p.m. This event offers an opportunity to meet the author and to enjoy a discussion of her life growing up, the similarities between her and her amazing characters, and advice on writing and how to navigate the world of publishing. The author also reads from her most recent novel CROSSROADS. This event is free and open to the public. SKYY is the author of three popular novels, all revolving around four college BFFs, their lives, loves, and tribulations. The third book, CROSSROADS, starts with Denise, the sexy star basketball player, recovering from the injuries she suffered during the incident with crazy stalker Rhonda. She is off to New York to follow her basketball dreams, only to hit a bump in the road… and with her hot true love Lena not far behind. Meanwhile, Cooley is far away from Memphis and all its heartache. There is nothing to remind her of her past – except for the huge scar across her face. Have all of her past transgressions finally robbed her of her swagger? SKYY blurs the lines between lesbian and straight communities by speaking with intimate familiarity the striking commonalities of loving and living as African American women in urban America. The books resonate with truisms among women of all ages and gender identities. SKYY, who describes herself as “mostly a nerd,” enjoys her spare time traveling and spending time at home. When she is not on the road with her books, she is a club promoter. She is currently working to bring her books to the screen. (jasbro)
