- Froukje Slofstra werd in 1977 te Abcoude geboren. Ze bezocht het Sint-Ignatiusgymnasium in Amsterdam en studeerde Russische taal- en letterkunde aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Sinds 2003 werkt ze als freelance redacteur en vertaalt ze uit het Russisch, Frans, Duits en Engels. Van 2001 tot 2006 woonde ze in Parijs; sinds 2007 woont ze in New York.
