Alarie graduated from The University of Virginia with a BA in Literature in 1974, the first class that admitted women. She worked as a law copy editor, technical editor at Old Dominion University Research Foundation, and copy editor of The Virginia Journal of Science before moving to Kansas City. Since January 1984, she has worked for Hallmark Cards, Inc., where she is a Writing Stylist. Alaire Tennille has chapbook from The Lives You Touch Publications entitled Spiraling into Control. Her poems have appeared in The Kansas City Star, English Journal, I-70 Review, ByLine Magazine, Poetry East, Margie, Coal City Review, The Mid-America Poetry Review, and Kansas City Voices. She is married to former English teacher, graphic designer Chris Purcell. Susan Whitmore, MFA, is the Director of Development for First Call, formerly known as the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence - Kansas City. Previously she held the positions of Vice President of Development at Newhouse and Executive director at the Writers Place. She has also worked as an independent consultant for both Whitmore Consulting and the Moran Company. A published poet, Ms. Whitmore has also taught English literature and creative writing at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Rockhurst University, and the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Publications include The Melinda Poems, Puddinghouse Press 2004; The Sacrifices, Mellen Poetry Press 1993; The Invisible Woman, Singular Speech Press 1991; and In the Silence Following, Phenix Press/The New Paper 1989. Susan’s poems have also appeared in American Poetry: The Next Generation, Carnegie Mellon University Press 2000; Chance of a Ghost: An Anthology of Contemporary Ghost Poems, Helicon Nine 2005; Spud Songs, Helicon Nine 1999; and Writing Poems, 6th edition, Addison Wesley 2002.
