The Walled Garden is a collection of poems, mostly written in blank verse (think iambs, lots and lots of iambs), with a focus on spiritual themes. The introduction gives a brief overview of the author's purpose in writing these poems, and then off we go. Unfortunately, while the themes are nice, the execution is lacking. I like my poetry to dance, these verse merely plod. They may be metrically correct and topically interesting, but while the body is willing the spirit appears to be in hiding. What has the promise of good, becomes merely mediocre. But still, good poetry is rapidly becoming a lost art, so I give the author kudos for making the attempt.… (more)
