Mary Elizabeth Thurston is an internationally recognized authority on companion animal history. In addition to writing humane education materials, she also designs exhibitions on the human-animal relationship. She is a founding member of Animal Trustees of Austin, a Texas-based charity that specializes in finding new homes for abused and abandoned dogs and cats.
