An evening with Alan Titchmarsh Alan Titchmarsh on tour for Knave of Spades. Gardener extraordinaire Alan Titchmarsh will be coming to Abingdon to share a convivial evening chatting about his early steps into broadcasting and signing copies of the third instalment of his memoirs 'Knave of Spades'. The event takes place on Friday September 25 at 7.30pm, in the Yolande Patterson Hall at St Helen & St Katharine. Knave of Spades covers his television years, from his first few appearances on Nationwide to hosting Gardeners World and Ground Force, finally following in the footsteps of his gardening inspiration, Percy Thrower. Alan is known to millions through the popular BBC TV programmes British Isles: A Natural History, How to be a Gardener, Ground Force and Gardeners' World. He has twice been named 'Gardening Writer of the Year' and for four successive years was voted 'Television Personality of the Year' by the Garden Writers' Guild.
