In 1775, comte Henri Roland Lancelot Turpin de Crisse married Emilie de Montulle, the daughter of a councillor of the Paris Parlement. During the French Revolution, the comtesse served as a mediator between the republican and royalist forces in the war in the Vendee.
She left a written account of her activities entitled "Memoires relatifs aux differentes missions royalists de Madame la comtesse Turpin de Crisse, et aux operations de l’armee de la Haute-Bretagne et du Bas-Anjou, de 1794 a 1800."
