Elizabeth Watkin-Jones, née Parry, was born in Nefyn, Caernarfonshire, Wales, the only daughter of Henry Parry, a sea captain who drowned before her birth, and his wife Jane. She attended the Normal College in Bangor and became a primary school teacher in South and North Wales. In 1916, she married John Watkin-Jones,also a schoolteacher. After World War I, she returned to Nefyn, where most of her books are set. She wrote children's books in the Welsh language.
