This is an excellent review of Finney's revival theology in his use of preaching the Law as necessarily essential to the message of the Gospel. As the author notes, Finney's doctrinal views are "informed by principles of legal order, which justified and promoted revival reforms."

He briefly discusses the historical religious context to which Finney was born and lived (chapter 1), his early life and vocation, and his conversion and theology using Finney's writings, for example, his autobiography, Skeletons, and Systematic Theology, as sources (chapter 2-4). He also discusses Finney's view of the Humans Condition (chapter 5), the Plan of Salvation (chapter 6), and the Duty of Perfection (chapter 7).

I recommend this book for anyone who wants a better and clear understanding of Finney's theology and revival methods, and especially, his understanding and use of the Law in his preaching and teaching.
