Short biography
Amy Catherine Wells, née Robbins, was 20 years old in 1892 when she enrolled in a biology lab being taught by H.G. Wells, unhappily married at the time, at University Tutorial College in London. They eloped in 1894, and she lived with him until Wells divorced his first wife Isabel the following year and they were able to marry. The couple had two children together. She died of cancer in 1927. He gathered poems and short stories she had written and published them in a volume called The Book of Catherine Wells, which also included information about their lives together and the eulogies spoken at her funeral.
