Short biography
Historian and statesman François Guizot married as his second wife Elisa Dillon, niece of his first wife (and also an author). The couple had two daughters and a son, of whom Henriette was the eldest. She was a sort of unofficial secretary to her father, and they published several works together. She also became a romance novelist and essayist. She married politiician Conrad de Witt, a conservative Member of Parliament for Calvados and mayor of Saint Ouen le Pin. She wrote under the name Madame Guizot de Witt. Her sister Pauline married Conrad's brother Henri de Witt, and this couple also wrote books.
