Tim Wynne-Jones has 5 past events. (show) Author Reading: Tim Wynne-Jones Tim Wynne-Jones reads from Blink & Caution. Publisher's Weekly has this to say about Tim's new YA book, in a starred review: "Wynne-Jones (The Uninvited) delivers a dazzling crime novel that evokes the taut writing and tropes of hard-boiled fiction while interweaving social justice themes and a solid sense of realism. Blink has been living on the streets ever since running away from his abusive stepfather. While on a foray into a hotel to scavenge for leftover room service food, he witnesses an oil executive's faked kidnapping and ends up getting involved as he realizes the implications of the crime. Along the way, he meets Caution, on the run both from her abusive, drug-dealing boyfriend and her guilt over the accidental shooting death of her brother...Wynne-Jones--often using a surprisingly effective second-person voice--focuses on their attempts to escape immediate danger and repair their internal emotional damage. Blink and Caution's gradual need to trust each other to heal drives the story forward, and should provide ample thrills to lovers of crime novels and strong teen characters." (thebookpile)… (more)
A Book Club for Ages 7-10 Tim Wynne-Jones , Ned Mouse Breaks Away.; Jules Feiffer, A Room with a Zoo. Calling all readers ages 7-10! We just love talking to you cats about books, and we've met a lot of you who love talking about books, too. AND, we've heard a lot of you say things like this: "Hey, how come you have book clubs for teens and older kids, but nothing for us? Don't you think we like to read, too? What are you thinking?" It got us to thinking: Good point. And so, we proudly announce the introduction of a new book club for folks aged 7-10. If you fit that description, and you'd like to read and talk about books, let us know! Also, we need a name for this book club. Suggestions are encouraged. All of our other book club names for young people have come from the members (because they are much more creative than we are), and we hope that this will be no exception. Our first meeting will be Sunday, June 27th, from 5:30-6:30PM. We will discuss Ned Mouse Breaks Away by Tim Wynne-Jones and Room With a Zoo by Jules Feiffer. Call Wild Rumpus to sign up! 612-920-5005 (omayao)… (more)
