Henry prize-winning writer and the author of seven books including The Unwalled City and Evanescent Isles, and has edited several literary anthologies including Fifty-Fifty: New Hong Kong Writing. In 2009, she was elected faculty chair at Vermont College of Fine Arts MFA in Writing, the first woman, ethnic minority and foreign-born U.S. national to hold the position. Before becoming a full-time writer, Xu spent 18 years in international marketing and management, including posts at Federal Express, Leo Burnett Advertising and The Asian Wall Street Journal. She is now Writer-in-Residence at City University of Hong Kong, where she founded the first MFA for Asian writing in English.
