Thus spoke Kate DiCamillo, National Ambassador for Young People's Literature, in a call to literary arms in a celebration to be hosted by independent bookstores and in commemoration of Children's Book Week.
Anne Ylvisaker & Kate Aver Avraham answered Kate's call and we're honored to host their story time Saturday, May 17 from 1:00 - 2:00.
Anne & Kate will be reading favorite books (not of their own making) that speak to them only the way a book can. (Yes, their books will also be available and a signing will follow the story time.)
Anne Ylvisaker is the author of the middle grade novels Button Down, The Luck of the Buttons, Little Klein, and Dear Papa, all from Candlewick Press, as well as an award winning board book, and nineteen nonfiction books for young readers. In 2005 Anne was awarded the McKnight Artist Fellowship/Loft Award in Children’s Literature. She has a master’s degree in education.
Kate Aver Avraham is a poet, children's author, art enthusiast, and former children's librarian. Her poems have been published in various anthologies, journals, and magazines, and she was a finalist for the Pablo Neruda Poetry Prize from Nimrod International Journal. Her most recent children's book, What Will You Be, Sara Mee?, about young Sara Mee's tol, the Korean first-birthday celebration, is inspired by Kate's experience having adopted a child from Korea over twenty years ago.
