Karen Zager, PhD, is a psychologist in private practice in New York, specializing in adolescence, parenting, and relationship issues. She was featured in the MTV Warning Signs anti-violence video, and consulted on the PBS documentary film 5 Girls. She has been interviewed for dozens of magazines and newspapers including USA Today, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Ladies Home Journal, Parent Magazine, Cosmo Girl, Time, and Mademoiselle, and is a regular contributor to YM Magazine. She has frequently been interviewed on TV (Good Morning America, CBS Eyewitness News, Fox 5 News, The O'Reilly Report, The Donohue Show, and Sally Jesse Raphael), as well as on the radio and Web sites to discuss topics of adolescence and parenting. She was the recipient of the American Psychological Association Presidential Citation for contributions to the field of psychology, and the Distinguished Psychologist of the Year Award from Psychologists in Independent Practice of the American Psychological Association. She served as cochair of the American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on Adolescent Girls, and was President of Psychologists in Independent Practice, a Division of the American Psychological Association. She is also a wife and the proud mother of two teenagers.
