Koos van Zomeren was jarenlang werkzaam in de journalistiek (o.a. NRC Handelsblad en Nieuwe Revu) en schreef in de jaren zeventig en tachtig diverse thrillers. In 1965 debuteerde hij met gedichten: De wielerkoers van Hank Zijn tweede dichtbundel is getiteld Ik heet welkom.
Zijn oeuvre is vanaf 1965 uitgegroeid tot bijna zestig titels, grotendeels verschenen bij De Arbeiderspers. Binnen dat oeuvre nemen natuur en landschap (en wat daar allemaal onder verstaan wordt) een vooraanstaande plaats in
