Meeting the Shadow Salon
Malaprop's Bookstore & Cafe, Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 7pm
Join us for a series of salons discussing Meeting the Shadow over the coming months with Andrea Olson. A salon is a place where ideas are exchanged - a place of intellectual growth through community. The salons will not only involve discussion of the assigned chapters, but each evening we will integrate and experience the materials hands-on.

First discussion, Wednesday January 14, Meeting the Shadow's Prologue and Introduction! This group is open to the public, everyone is welcome, so please join us!

About the book: The discarded, unused, disowned, or unacknowledged bits of the psyche are called the shadow, including the usuals like anger, shame, and rage, but also hidden talents, passions, and unreached dreams. The shadow sneaks up on us through extreme feelings about others (he annoys me/she is gorgeous) to angry outbursts, unexplainable anxiety, or, at worst, inner battles of depression and addiction. Join us as we use this collection of essays as a guide to look at the personal and collective shadow, shadow work, and how to navigate the shadow instead of letting it run rampant.

Andrea Olson studied Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute and body mythology at Tamalpa Institute. She facilitates movement-based expressive arts and shadow work in her River Arts studio, Soulistic Healing. 2nd and 4th Wednesdays at 7pm. Please join us for some or all!
