The Family Therapist’s Award Committee presents two awards for outstanding Australian children's literature: Children's/Youth Literature Award and Young Readers/Picture Book Award. A prize of $1,000 for each category is presented to the winning authors and illustrators at the annual Family Therapy Conference.

The Picture Book category was first awarded in 1995.
