Award description

The Western History Association announces the Caughey Book Prize given annually for the most distinguished book on the history of the American West, broadly defined. The award consists of $2,500 and a certificate to the author, and a certificate to the press.

Prior to 1993, the Caughey prize was known as the Western History Association Prize for a “distinguished body of writing.”
