The Herbert A. Simon Best Book Award is awarded by the American Political Science Association for "the best book on public administration published in the last 3 to 5 years that has made a significant contribution to public administration." The awards is named in honor of the American political scientist Herbert Alexander Simon (1916 -2001), whose research ranged across many diverse fields and is considered to be one of the most influential social scientists of the 20th century.
