Character description

Elizabeth, Countess of Shrewsbury (1527–1608), known as Bess of Hardwick, was a formidable woman of the Tudor era. She was married four times, lastly to George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, who served as Keeper of Mary, Queen of Scots. She became famous as the builder of Chatsworth.
