Character description

Christopher Columbus Augur (10 July 1821 - 6 January 1898) was commandant of cadets at West Point at the outbreak of the American Civil War, but was promoted to brigadier general in 1861 with a field command, and in 1862 was promoted to brigadier general. From 1863 - 1866 he commanded XXII Corps and the Department of Washington, and helped in the pursuit of the conspirators who assassinated Abraham Lincoln.
