Character description

Diane-Adélaïde de Mailly-Nesle, duchesse de Lauraguais (1713-1760) was the third-born of the 5 famous aristocratic sisters, four of whom in turn were mistresses of King Louis XV of France. She consoled the king for a while after the sudden death of her younger sister, Madame de Châteauroux, but was then supplanted in his affections by Madame de Pompadour.
