Character description

Edward Porter Alexander resigned from his work in the Union army as a signals specialist at the beginning of the American Civil War to enlist in the Confederate army. He initially did the same job, which involved working closely with intelligence as he relayed coded messages, but later became one of Robert E. Lee's artillerists.
