Character description

Eliza de Feuillide, née Hancock (1761–1813) was a paternal cousin, sister-in-law, and close friend of Jane Austen. In 1791, she married Jean-François Capot de Feuillide, an aristocratic French army officer who was executed during the Reign of Terror. Eliza returned to England, where she married Henry Austen, Jane's brother, in 1797. She wrote several novels and her letters have survived.
