Character description

The Figulus in Simon Scarrow's Roman Legion series is a Romanized Gaul.  We first meet him as an optio to Quintus Lincinius Cato who has assumed his first command as centurion.  Figulus is a big man, and a formidable soldier, but has difficulty with the record-keeping duties of his office.  He is good with the men, and has an easy-going and guileless nature.
