Character description

Gertrude Chataway (1866-1951). Believed to be the second of Charles Dodgson's (Lewis Carroll's) great child-friends (following Alice Liddell, of course). Dodgson met her in 1875, and dedicated The Hunting of the Snark to her the following year. Contrary to the stories that Dodgson abandoned his friends as they grew older, he remained friendly with Chataway until the end of his life.
