Little is known about the family in real life, except that they lived in Steeple Barton. At Anne's request, her brothers pulled on her legs while she has hanging to mercifully hasten her death. In Mary Hooper's book, Newes from the Dead, Jane is still living at home with her parents in Steeple Barton, while the brothers are working in Banbury. Jane and her mother visit Anne in Oxford jail, and the whole family was at her hanging. They protested against the dissection, wanting to bury Anne whole, but were kept at bay until Anne was revived and likely to recover.
