Character description

Jacob Brown (1775-1828): American general. Despite a Quaker background, he chose to be a soldier. Early in the War of 1812, while serving along the Niagara frontier, his initiative saved Sacketts Harbor from British attack, earning him a generalship in the regular army. He later commanded at the Battle of Lundy's Lane, where he was wounded. He continued in the army after the war, and in his last years, as a Major General, was the commander of the entire U. S. army.
