Character description

John I, King of England (1167–1216), was the successor of his childless older brother Richard I. He's the Prince John of the Robin Hood stories -- see separate LT entry. He was nicknamed "John Lackland" (in French, "Jean Sans Terre") for his loss of territory to France.
