Character description

George Jeffreys (1645-1689), Lord Chief Justice and Lord Chancellor of England, was made 1st Baron Jeffreys of Wem. He was known as "The Hanging Judge" for his role in sentencing many of the participants in Monmouth's Rebellion during the Bloody Assizes of 1685.
