Character description

Julia Wilbur was an abolitionist. She protested the refusal to seat African Americans at shows, even in the North. During the Civil War, she assisted Harriet Jacobs in providing for former slave refugees in Union-occupied Alexandria, and at the Jacobs School during the Reconstruction.
