Character description

Katherine Sedley (1657-1717), famed for her wit, was a maid of honor to Mary of Modena, Duchess of York, and the lover of the Duke of York, later King James II. In 1686, the king made her Countess of Dorchester in her own right and banished her from court. She married Sir David Colyear.
