Character description

Lady Eleanor Talbot (????-1468), also called Eleanor Butler, is a mysterious figure in English history but one of major significance. She is believed to have been the daughter of John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury. Her alleged pre-contract of marriage with the young King Edward IV, when revealed, was a major factor in the struggle for the throne and the outcome of the Wars of the Roses. Lady Eleanor is said to have become a Carmelite nun and died without ever speaking of the supposed marriage herself.
