Character description

Laura Martinozzi, Duchess of Modena (1639–1687), was one of the famous nieces of Cardinal Mazarin, the chief minister of France. Together they were known at court as the "Mazarinettes." He arranged her 1655 marriage to Alfonso IV d'Este, Duke of Modena.
The couple's daughter Mary of Modena became Queen of England as the wife of King James II.
