Character description

Jean Louis Rodolphe Agassiz (28 May 1807 - 14 December 1873), a Swiss-born professor of natural history. Among the ideas for which he is known are his theories on ice ages, his resistance to Charles Robert Darwin's theories on evolution, and his racial classification scheme (hence his appearance in both books about the history of the theory of evolution and of the American Civil War).
