Character description

Mahaut, Countess of Artois (c. 1268-1329), was the daughter of Robert II, Count of Artois, and his wife Amicie de Courtenay. In 1291, she was married to Otho IV, Count of Burgundy. She was influential in politics at the French court and arranged for two of her daughters to marry future kings of France: Jeanne or Joan of Burgundy married Philip V and Blanche of Burgundy married his brother Charles IV.
