Character description

Marie-Louise O'Murphy (1737–1814), the daughter of an Irish soldier living in France, was a mistress of King Louis XV as a teenager. She's sometimes referred to as "La Morphise" or "La Belle Morphise." She posed for a famous portrait by Boucher. After a few years, the king arranged a marriage for her. She was imprisoned during the French Revolution but survived.
