Character description

Nicholas Bracewell is a tall, broad-shouldered man with long fair hair and a full beard. The son of a wealthy merchant, he is well-educated. After working with his father, he went to sea with Sir Francis Drake. He then went to London where he became the book holder for Lord Westfield's Men, an acting company. He was described by one critic as the only sane person in the group. He is efficient, hardworking, and tactful. He is able to sooth the fractious company, takes a fatherly interest in the young apprentices, and generally make things run smoothly while preferring to remain in the background.
