Character description

Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury (c. 1400-1460): Oldest son of Ralph Neville, Earl of Westmorland, by his second wife Joan Beaufort, Neville gained the Salisbury earldom by marriage (as his son, another Richard Neville, would become 16th Earl of Warwick by marriage). By 1453, Salisbury and Warwick were allied with Richard Plantagenet, 3rd Duke of York, in the early phases of the Wars of the Roses. Salisbury was executed after York's disastrous defeat at the Battle of Wakefield in 1460.
