Sir Richard Woodville (or Wydeville), 1st Earl Rivers (1405-1469), was an English knight, the son of the chamberlain to the regent of France, John, Duke of Bedford. After the duke's death in 1435, Richard married the widowed duchess, Jacquetta. He was a supporter of the House of Lancaster in the Wars of the Roses, and was ennobled by King Henry VI. However, he switched his allegience to York following the marriage of his daughter Elizabeth to King Edward IV in 1464. Through her, he was the great-grandfather of King Henry VIII.
