Character description

Richard Hill: London merchant's assistant who copied many carols and songs into his notebook from about the beginning of the sixteenth century until 1537. The book -- Oxford, Balliol College MS. 354 -- was eventually found behind a bookshelf, and is one of the best sources for the music of the sixteenth century lower and middle classes.
