Sophia Dorothea (1666–1726) the unhappy wife of George Louis of Hanover, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg before he became King George I of Great Britain. He divorced her on suspicion of adultery and confined her in the Castle of Ahlden for more than 30 years.
