Character description

Stephen of Blois (c. 1096–1154), was King of England from 1135 to 1154. He challenged his cousin, Empress Maud, for the throne of her father King Henry I after the latter's death. The 19-year civil war that ensued -- known as the Anarchy -- was so cruel, it was remembered by the people of England for centuries.
