Character description

In the novel Heresy, set in the Elizabethan era, Thomas is the son of a former Fellow at Christ Church College at Oxford.   Thomas's father was discovered to be a secret Catholic, and fled England.  Thomas doesn't share his father's religious views, but he lost his scholarship at Christ Church College, and is now forced to work as a servant to another student, Gabriel Norris.  He was considered as a possible husband for Sophia Underhill, but is now rejected because of his poverty and family disgrace.
